I'm ba-a-ack

There are so many thoughts that are flooding my mind from the last two weeks. I have been overwhelmed at how God has been speaking to me. I'll try to share as the thoughts become distinct. Right now I am just trying to put two thoughts that may be related together. How is is that the work of camp and the ease of vacation can come together to provide inspiration? It is a mystery.

Just one thought as a challenge to us all. While driving back yesterday, we passed through some "smell zones". One zone had the unmistakable aroma of a black and white creature commonly called the skunk. If you have ever driven by where a skunk has sprayed, you know what I am talking about. It comes on suddenly and remains for what seems like many miles before you can breathe again.

We passed through another zone that smelled strongly of onions. I like onions, so it didn't bother me in the least. But the smell still permeated the car and stuck with us for quite some time.

The last zone I remember smelled of cedar. Like a cedar-lined chest. There was this wonderful strong cedar smell and it seemed to last longer than the other two combined which brings me to the point of this particular post.

We are called by God to live lives that are a pleasing sacrifice to Him (see Eph 5:1-2). The point being, I hope that our lives are being lived for God such that we are pleasing to Him. I hope we are not a stench in His nostrils like that skunk zone I mentioned above. I hope that we are not even a little pungent to Him like that onion zone. I pray that we are more like that cedar zone that was warm and lovely. A pleasing aroma to our God and King. We are a pleasing aroma when we are obedient to our God.

How do you smell today?
