How many little things do you do that may give you the opportunity to share the Gospel with someone who doesn't know Jesus? Let me give you a recent example of how God worked in my "little things" this week.
I have a Monday morning appointment for coffee. I get the chance to visit with folks who are not members of my church. Some of them are saved, some are not. I still consider these folks friends and I am sorry that they do not have the hope of Jesus Christ, but that is why I am there.
My dear bride made apple butter this year and we took some to our coffee shop friends. One of them decided to call us and tell us how much he enjoyed that apple butter. We were not home, so he had to sit through our rather long answering machine message. I know it is long, but I don't want to change it. I really like the message. Why? Because it is my favorite passage of Scripture from the Bible. It is:
Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. (Isaiah 40:31, NASB)
If you call my house, you will hear those words and then a polite, "Please leave a message after the tone."
So, between the wonderful apple butter and the message on my answering machine, I walked in to my regular coffee meeting this week and was asked why I kept that message on my machine. Of course, I replied that it was one of my favorite verses because it talks about drawing all of our strength from the Lord. And I get all of my strength from Jesus who died on the cross for me. He is my savior and my strength.
Two seemingly unrelated things, apple butter and an answering machine, that came together in God's perfect plan to present the Gospel message to people who need to hear it. I am honored to be used by God in this way.
What unrelated things have you done that have given you the opportunity to share Jesus with someone who doesn't know Him?
