And so it begins....

First of all, let me publically say, "Thank you!" to those dear people who took care of my yard. You know who you are. From the bottom of my heart, "Thank you!" You have no idea the depths that you touched my heart by your selfless acts of devotion. I am excited to be working alongside you as we seek to build God's kingdom. Your heartfelt love and devotion to our Savior and to one another as well as your passion to see the lost come to Christ are a testimony for all to see.

Second, last night the associational leadership approved a partnership to reach people on the other side of the world. We agreed to make reaching these unreached people a priority in associational life. I am thrilled that we are all sensing God's leadership in this direction.

Third, I also know of a pastorless church that is on the verge of calling a pastor. I am very excited about this one for two reasons. The church is a daughter church of the church I pastor. And the pastor-candidate is my little brother. I am excited at the possibilities of joint ministry. And I rejoice that this church is looking for such a passionate under-shepherd.

These are just the highlights of the way I have seen God moving in the past week. It looks to me like there is a tidal wave building. I am praying that it is a tidal wave of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will see the many lost in our communities come to saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. This would be the answer to my (and others') prayers for the last three years that I have been here.

Are you excited? Can we pray with confidence like Elijah did on the mountside with the prophets of Baal? Let's pray the very words of Elijah:

O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and I have done all these things at Your word. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You, O LORD, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.
--1 Kings 18:36-37 (NASB)
